Functional Medicine Services in Denver

SpineAt Integrative Health & Rehabilitation, we’re proud to offer our practice members the best in state-of-the-art, integrative treatment modalities to help them experience a better, pain free life. We feature natural therapies that are safe and effective, and do not require the use of drugs or surgical intervention. Here are some of our more popular offerings:

Chiropractic Care

The benefits of chiropractic care are widely known. We use this time-honored, gentle approach to pain relief and optimal wellness with great success. We have an array of research-based techniques at our disposal, and each treatment is customized to suit the unique needs of the individual in terms of age, sensitivity, history of trauma and general physical condition.

Trigger Point Injections

A Trigger point is a sensitive, painful knot of skeletal muscle fibers that have become “stuck” together due to injury or overuse. Trigger points can be found almost anywhere on the body but are a common cause of back, neck and shoulder pain.

Trigger points are also a common cause of chronic complaints as they can be very difficult to treat. For conditions that don’t respond to Massage or Physical Therapy, we offer homeopathic trigger point injections of Zeel and Traumeel, which are applied directly into the trigger points themselves.

These injections have proven to be just as effective as conventional pharmaceutical therapies but without the troubling side effects.

Cold Laser Therapy

Cold Laser therapy, also called Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT), is a relatively new technology and works by producing an impulse of light, at a specific wavelength, that minimizes reflection and scattering but maximizes it’s absorption by damaged cells.

Research (consisting of over 4,000 studies) has shown that the light energy absorbed by the cells through LLLT stimulate the mitochondria to increase production of ATP (the primary source of energy for our cells.) This increase in energy production speeds up the healing of injured or damaged tissue.

Our office has successfully used LLLT to treat conditions like “Tennis Elbow” and Plantar Fasciitis (Heel Pain) as well as neck and back pain.

Dry Needling

This procedure is similar to acupuncture, but instead of stimulating meridian points, specific anatomical landmarks are chosen. The focus is on musculo-skeletal problems, such as neck and back pain, sports injuries and rehabilitating different joints after surgery. Dry needling is used to help restore function and range of motion to an injured area.

Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections (PRP)

The body’s first response to an injury is to deliver platelet cells. These cells are rich in both growth and healing factors and help initiate the healing process as well as attracting stem cells to the injured area. PRP injections help intensify the bodies healing process by bringing more platelets into the area most in need of healing.

The PRP injection is created by drawing a small sample of your blood and placing it into a centrifuge that spins the blood at high speeds, separating out the valuable platelets from the many other components of the sample. The entire process takes just a few minutes and is done right here in our office. The PRP is then injected into and around the injured area, “kick-starting” and improving the healing process. Because your own blood is used, there is no risk of transmissible infection and little risk of an allergic reaction.

Acupuncture

The Chinese belief is that there is a life energy called Qi (pronounced Chee) that travels through the body in channels or meridians. When there is a blockage of this energy, that causes a person’s illness or disease. By stimulating points along these channels with acupuncture needles, the energy flow is restored and the ache, pain, illness, or disease is resolved.

From a medical perspective, research has shown that acupuncture needles can increase localized blood flow to an area, bringing in nutrients and flushing out toxins as well as reducing inflammation. These are all important steps in healing injuries. Acupuncture also helps reduce muscle spasm and interrupt pain signals.

Medical Weight Loss

It is estimated by the American Heart Association that over 150 million people in the United States are overweight and that costs the U.S. over 250 Billion dollars in lost wages and unnecessary healthcare costs. Our office uses a natural hormone called Human Chorionic Gonadatrophin (HCG) combined with a medically supervised low-calorie diet to produce fast, amazing weight loss results without suffering or going hungry!

HCG naturally suppresses appetite, helps the body burn fat and is also believed to help “reset” appetite-control functions in the brain, allowing for long term weight loss.

Physical Therapy

Our physical therapist addresses issues ranging from frozen shoulder and ankle sprains to lower back injuries and balance issues. Treatment can include, but is not limited to, ultrasound, stretching (PNF, static, dynamic and others) as well as strengthening exercises and electrical muscle stimulation.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is useful for stress relief, pain management, muscle spasm, trigger points, circulatory problems and the muscular components of injury. Our massage therapists have years of experience and offer a wide array of treatment styles, including Swedish, deep tissue, sports and prenatal massage.
